The song stolen from the birds of the forest
The parrots, the herons, the hummingbirds, the cuckoos and the chief of all birds - the owl, are very concerned because the evil being Avatisu stole their voice. After several attempts to find their singing, birds rely on a boy who lives on the shores of lake Ipavu, in the largest forest in the world: the Amazon.
The show, based on a Guaranì legend, tells of a people living in harmony with nature, of its sensitivity to fundamental values such as friendship and justice.
The voice, the song from which the birds are deprived, is their identity, their right to be themselves so whole and complete, to express themselves each with their own characteristics and inclinations. The community of birds becomes a parody of humanity; even among them there is the dreamer, the gossip, the opportunist and the inventor. The birds are built and represented by traditional musical instruments of the South American forest.
In our legend, the birds represent very well the situation of many indigenous peoples, including many communities of the Amazon; the right to sing their own song has been taken away and it is still being stolen
